First Cannabis Study Done on Alzheimer’s Patients Was Two Years Ago

Israeli Study On THC Shows Great Promise With Treating Alzheimer’s

IMG_9931

Did You Know:

One of the first Cannabis studies conducted on patients whom have Alzheimer’s was done in 2016 Tel Aviv Israel. It is now 2018, and patients are now using CBD/THC oil to slow down the progression of ALZ & Dementia.

Not only does Cannabis “…slow the production of beta-amyloid proteins, thought to be a hallmark characteristic and key contributor to the progression of Alzheimer’s” …but it also alleviates many symptoms that comes from having a Neurodegenerative Disease.

Anxiety and aggression are often relieved when the mind is stimulated by Medical Cannabis Oil. It diverts the episode from hopeless to hopeful as I carry on my regular day. Now keep in mind Cannabis Oil only works if you keep active and exercise your brain with projects that stimulate our synapsis at play. This is called Adult Neuro Genesis, the generation of brain cells through the plasticity in the brain.

Through healthy living, striving and higher learning, we can stop the progression or at least ease the destruction that ALZ leaves behind in it’s path. When you’re a terminal patient, comfort can be the best gift. Live everyday like it’s your last, but always plan for a bright future.

After successfully conducting one of the first clinical studies of THC cannabinoid on human Alzheimer’s patients, the study concludes that,  “tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a safe and a promising treatment option” for those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. Countdown to Re-legalization

Did you know?

It’s about 3-4 months till Canada legalizes our Native plant for medical and recreational use. Do I take a sigh of relief or do we need to hide our inherent right to medicate for healing purposes?

If we follow in the footsteps of our Mother Earth and put the plant first; we will unite under the protection of this sacred medicine. Regardless of race, our rights as patients who need this medicine to live, becomes the driving force.

From an Aboriginal perspective, I praise the efforts of my community to “legally” own the rights and reclaim this Native plant after all this prohibition time. From an Irish Canadian point of view, I hope that women and patients will become the priority and majority in the medical cannabis field.

Again we are at the mercy of the federal government, but if Prime Minister Trudeau actually follows through with legalization, I know I will be in control of my future and won’t be persecuted for seeking a CBD/THC treatment plan.

Then hopefully lead to employing people with disabilities to work in the cannabis industry that will improve our socio-economic future on several levels. We will be able to medicate and balance our work lives to accommodate our disabilities and enrich our culture more so.

After restarting my research, I found this Aboriginal Canadian network that covers exactly my concerns and hopes for our cannabis community.

“National Indigenous Medical Cannabis Association (NIMCA)

“Specifically, NIMCA’s role is the following, but not limited to the self-regulation of Indigenous medical cannabis industry through the application of Indigenous political and economic principals and governance that will:

o Uphold Indigenous sovereignty self-determination

o Protect minors and families;

o Keep organized crime out of legit Indigenous hemp and cannabis industries;

o Provide the education, awareness, policy and capacity necessary to provide quality control and safe handling;

o Develop a cannabis treatment program to combat the opioid crisis that has gripped Indigenous and mainstream society;

o Ensure standardized testing and consistency of product quality;

o Safety and security;

o Education and awareness within the industry and consumers;

o Regulate pricing of products;

o Generate new training, jobs and economy of scale for Indigenous people and nations;

o Ensure fair wages, benefits and a safe work environment for all employees; and,

o To promote the overall health and well-being of all communities.

More Aboriginal Success in Securing the Rights to Native Medicines

Phil Fontaine, the former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, is partnering in a JOINT venture with Cronos Group called “Indigenous Roots.” There will be many facets of this development that include but are not limited to, Agriculture, Accountant, Wealth participation, Infrastructure and Capacity Building including distribution to bring medicine back home to our Native lands.

Cronos

This agreement also included the aspect of “True BARTER – 50% 50%” to honour the sacred ways our Ancestors used to trade for their living. This is a different approach to working with “Indigenous Roots,” by splitting everything evenly as partners, not just offering money, it’s a working relationship.

Cronos has a Whistler Cannabis production centre that only grows organic. They create their own super soil, and meet the standards to be certified 100% organic. But will they fall to using pesticides as two other Cdn. non-related Cannabis grow hubs were caught using pesticides? This is where the home grower comes into play growing their own medicine in order to keep an eye on the quality control and test the actual product instantly.

My hope is that “Indigenous Roots” will represent Cannabis culture in a good way. The way of the Red Road, to encourage sobriety and responsible dosing. Once our Elders and community starts healing through oil, I believe PTSD could be a thing of the past.  If their partnership works out, First Nations socio-economic conditions could improve drastically and stop the cycle of violence stemming from our past.

Seniors Turning To Cannabis For Relief

Did you know?

Seniors are the fastest growing demographic to changeover from drugs to all natural Cannabis. According to the Canadian Globe & Mail article “Seniors Turning To Cannabis For Relief,” by Jeff Bassett, (April 14th 2017); they interviewed a “79 year-old Great-Grandmother” who was adamantly opposed to any Cannabis treatment options. She was suffering from chronic osteoarthritis in her back confining her to bed. Her next step was opiates, she realized that there must be better options out there. Eventually she was introduced to a “…daily dose of cannabidiol (CBD), a potent extract of cannabis or hemp.”

“Unlike THC – the psychoactive component in cannabis – pure CBD has medicinal properties without any “high.” Her apprehension was paramount as she considered Cannabis to be a drugs too. It was her desperation to gain her independence back that motivated her to try an all-natural plant before prescription opiates.

She woke up the next day with no pain, now her routine includes a spoonful for micro-dosing. There is a healing value in Medical Marijuana that can replace habit forming drugs. Quickly she gained her freedom back and become the carefree Great Grandmother her family always knew. Thanks to CBD oil, there is one less Senior that is suffering and one less family overwhelmed.
